About Our Hypnotherapist
Hi. I’m Stephanie Gans, C Ht. (Certified Hypnotherapist) and I am a graduate of the acclaimed Hypnosis Motivation Institute. I’m naturally empathic and nurturing, and I create a safe, comfortable, supportive environment in which to implement positive change.
I utilize a variety of modalities and techniques to assist my clients to overcome and take control of behavioral, emotional, and mental challenges that may be keeping them from achieving their full potential.
If you read the Wikipedia page about Hypnotherapy, you will see a number of practice models. Dr. John Kappas founded the Hypnosis Motivation Institute, the first clinical hypnosis training college in the U.S. to be accredited by several Department of Education–recognized accrediting agencies in the United States. Thus, my training foundation is in the Kappasinian form of hypnotherapy. However, please note that I don’t follow a single-minded approach. I incorporate techniques and methodologies such as Ericksonian Hypnosis and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and concepts from many other “schools” of hypnotherapy into my practice. Since no one client is like any other client, I find that this mix allows me to customize my sessions to meet each client’s needs.
History: I hold a B.A. in Psychology from Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, NY. Prior to becoming a hypnotherapist, I worked with clients with severe emotional disorders and schizophrenia. After several years of varied work, I found my “inner geek” and I’ve spent many years as a Macintosh computer consultant. My technical knowledge and ability to communicate and assess my client’s needs and manner of learning lead to software instruction with a focus on Adobe products. And, I’m also an actor.
In assessing my life, I realized that all those years of studying and learning how my clients’, students’, and characters’ minds worked made for a natural fit to become a hypnotherapist. I’ve always enjoyed helping others. I’m fascinated by all of our individual differences and have a tremendous appreciation for each person’s unique power.
It is that personal power I help my clients harness. I am their Grounded Nurturing Pathfinder, becoming an ally with my clients, and a catalyst for the adventure of self-improvement and attaining their goals.
